​We teach our patients special exercises to correct dysfunction of the body and increase the effectiveness of your chiropractic adjustments.  By targeting specific areas of weakness and imbalance, these exercises help to restore correct posture and maintain balance in the body.

The most common muscle imbalance we see today is called upper crossed syndrome, or "Text Neck ".  In our world of slouching at computers and hunching over smartphones, correct posture is becoming more and more crucial.  The typical smartphone user spends a total of 2-4 hours a day looking down at their phone.  This adds up to 700-1,400 hours per year of unnecessary stress to their cervical spine.  As this stress accumulates, it causes excessive wear and tear to your neck, upper back and shoulders.  Left untreated this poor posture can lead to degeneration and arthritis, spinal misalignment, disc herniation, nerve damage and loss of lung volume capacity.

The best way to prevent this damage is to sit up straight with your shoulders back at all times.  When looking at a computer or phone, hold your phone out in front of you, keep your chin parallel with the floor, and look down only with your eyes.  Be sure to keep your elbows at your sides, preventing stress to the shoulders.  Doing postural stretches can also help to combat hunching.
